KipsFam
An offer for children from families with psychological and/or addiction problems
Are you having an argument with your parents and are you worried about their condition?
Maybe at some point you noticed that they are alcoholic or have a mental illness. You ask yourself: Who can I talk to? Or are you sad or angry and want to really let off some steam? All your feelings are fine. All your questions are legitimate. You don't have to stay alone.
That's exactly why there are various offers that will advise you free of charge and anonymously (i.e. without you having to give your name), take you seriously and support you if you need help. Our advisors (pilots) are subject to confidentiality. They will try to find a solution together with you.
"Information about the KipsFamMSE Project"
Nationwide, around one quarter of all children, and approximately 30 percent in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, grow up with a parent who is temporarily, repeatedly, or permanently mentally ill or addicted, according to estimates, by the age of 18.
The KipsFam project (short for: Children and Adolescents from Families Affected by Mental Illness or Addiction) is therefore an important additional initiative to improve the situation of these children and families.
As part of this regional guidance project, initiated and led by the state office for KipsFam, under the direction of Dr. Pomowski (www.blickauf-kipsfam.de), a regional contact point has also been established in our MSE district.
To meet the growing demand in our large district, three organizations have joined forces to create the KipsFam MSE Network (ASB RV MSE, Addiction Support Center NB, and Social Work Malchin), offering various professional expertise in educational and addiction counseling, represented in their respective locations in Neubrandenburg, Malchin, and Woldegk.
The focus of this collaboration is primarily on supporting and advising children and adolescents who grow up in families with a parent suffering from addiction or mental illness, as well as expanding service and cooperation structures to connect professional and family networks.
Services and offerings at the Neubrandenburg location (ASB):
- Open conversation offers, also available anonymously, via email or phone
- Individual counseling for affected families and family members
- Education about existing illnesses
- Cooperation with the House of Mental Health at the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer Clinic, the Vocational School Neubrandenburg (Campus), and various childcare facilities
